Hiatus Rewind: May – July 2020

Hiya loves, it’s been a while! I went on a hiatus for like 3 months on the blog because I was just so burned out. This post is probably longer than most of my wrap ups as I’m trying to shove 3 months worth of stuff into a post. Anyway, suffice to say Ateez had a comeback at the end of July, which !!!! I adore their new songs. I have so many blog posts from other wonderful bloggers to share, as I did a fair bit of blog hopping on my hiatus. I also had two good reading months *sobs* though I do think a lot of it is down to me reading Urban Fantasy/Paranormal again xD

Before I dive into this post, I’m going to link to a few resources I’ve found, these are by no means extensive. It’s just a starting point for you all to learn, educate yourselves. I’ve been more active on my social media, sharing and boosting other links/voices, as now is the time where we listen. Listen, boost, show up even if you show up imperfectly your silence is compliance.

What I’ve Watched This Month

Whether it be TV shows, movies or a YouTube video I really loved and wanted to share with y’all. You can find it all in this section! Along with a lil ramble of how I felt about what I watched!

In May

Escape To The Chateau DIY Season 4: Ep 1-13
I really enjoy watching this series along with the other series which follows Angel and Dick’s Chateau. I love seeing people being creative and I’m very nosy – although this show does stress me out because everyone leaves things to the last minute *sobs*

In July

In Plain Sight Season 1: Ep 1-13
I am in love with this show. It’s an old show and I’m mostly in love with the characters, although I do enjoy how each episode is different. Anyway this season 1 out 5 seasons, which follows a US Marshal and I do enjoy these types of shows. Mostly for the characters and the slow burn romances *swoons* I’ve been watching this with my parents and grandma though hehe.

Codename Ateez: Eps 1-6

I found the links to these episodes with English subtitles and you bet I binged these episodes, it’s about Ateez before their debut and my heart is just very soft. I still have ep 7 to watch which I will no doubt do in August. Look I think we’ve established at this point I’m very soft for my boys. (if you’re an Atiny and looking for the links lemme know and I’ll DM you the links on social media for you!)

Life Updates

The past couple of months haven’t been kind to my mental health and it was part of the reason why I just vanished. The other part was to focus on my coursework. Anyway, so much has happened in the time I’ve been on hiatus. In the world, in my life and yeah…it’s a lot. If you want to keep up with me on a more day to day basis I suggest following me on twitter/instagram as I’m often lingering on those two socials.

My life really hasn’t been that interesting these past few months, it’s mostly consisted of work, avoiding working on my coursework in favour of watching YouTube and bribing myself to read books. The struggle is real I’ve just not felt like reading so a lot of the books I read are Urban Fantasy as it’s my fav genre and a comfort genre for me.

However I have been busy working on the blog behind the scenes, such as reformatting posts, tweaking my featured images and restructuring the navigation menu. It’s not all finished yet which is a shame, as I’d hoped to finish it all before returning but yeah…no energy or motivation to do blog stuff. My favourite page I’ve created on the blog is Original Features where I finally collated all the fun series I’ve created on the blog. You can also check that page, to see my plans and tentative schedule for upcoming features and current features!

I did get some wonderful bookish mail and I’ll share the photos of it below.

The first 7 pins are from Fiona’s shop felfiramoondesigns.com and I am super fussy with the pins I’ll buy, as they’re mostly used for aesthetic purposes. (until I buy a denim jacket and live out my best pin life). The quality of Fiona’s pins is just amazing, the details and the designs themselves are so beautiful. I did also buy a tote bag from Fiona’s shop but I do not have a photo of it yet. Just know it’s glorious and I recommend you getting one!

The last three things were from inkandwonder.com.au when they were having a sale on, I took advantage of the sale and bought those three things. Two pins which called to me and then the adorable clutch which I don’t yet have a purpose for…soon though.

You will probably find me talking more about Ateez on my socials and blog, they’ve really been one of the only things, that have kept me going. Usually it’s books that keep me going during my bad times, this time is these 8 wonderful humans who have my entire heart. I love them so much and I love their music, not a bad song on their entire discography in my humble opinion.

Shoutout to Luxe for keeping me company and being my shrieking partner, we apparently also share the same brain cell as we’re both considering stanning Oneus. Anyway I love all of their new songs BUT One Day At A Time is their first song fully in English, and the lyrics just have me feeling very soft. Inception is a bop and I love the choreography and I love Fever’s bridge and chorus.

I Got My Hair Chopped

I think the only other major life update I have is I had a hair cut. I didn’t grab scissors and cut my own hair ok, I’ve already been through that mess when I had a fringe. Quick lil story, that you can totally skip, is about how I grew up with long hair. Then in Secondary school I just had enough of long hair, it was too much for me to deal with at the time and I also wanted a change and at that time most girls had long hair so I also wanted to be different and not conform, yeah I know

Anyway after finishing college I decided I’d grow my hair out and go back to my short hair life at 20. In my head I was waiting for 20 so I could cut away the teen years metaphorically speaking. See…here’s the thing I love long hair. Just not on me. I don’t feel like my proper true self with long hair and it caused me to disconnect quite a bit when I’d see my reflection. It felt like I was looking at 12 year old me…

In the end I decided to get it cut short when hairdressers were allowed to open again over here, and it was the longest she’d ever seen my hair…and she cut it all off. Anyway I’m done rambling now, I may write a post about it may not. Have some before and after photos xD

For reference my hair would have reached where my t-shirt sleeve ends on the after photo, if it’d not be cut short. So yes, a lot was cut off but I feel like me again which is wonderful!

Around The Blogosphere

As I go about my blog hopping ways, I save some posts I loved, to share with you here. Ranging from reviews to tags to recommendations to discussions and if I stumble across any announcement posts from others in the community…yep you guessed it they’ll be going here.

Announcements can be from a blogging event (e.g something like Bookending Spring) to readathons to a bloggers new features.

Plan With Me: Personal BuJo August 2020

I promise I don’t normally have that many posts to share, I even had to leave some out simply because I felt like it was becoming too much but I tried to include a post from all the blogs I visited these past few months. Ok I’m gonna wrap this post up now because it’s 2.7k long and I AM SO SORRY FOR ALL THE RAMBLES!

How’s everyone been doing? Favourite reads these past few months? Are you an Atiny and/or fellow K-Pop lover? Lemme know in the comments and here’s to us all having a lovely August ❤

  2. Welcome back! There’s nothing quite like a good haircut to give you a fresh perspective. Love your cut! ❤ What did you think of Cress?? It's my favorite in The Lunar Chronicles. Happy Reading in August!

  3. Welcome back from hiatus, I hope you are feeling better now and take your time with getting back up and running with the blog. Also a great list of books. I loved With The Fire On High and also quite enjoyed The Gilded Wolves 🙂

  4. I don’t know why, but reading this post made me overflow with love for you 🥺 I’m so glad that you’re back, Clo!! ❤ And I'm so sorry that your mental health hasn't been great. I really hope it improves! Reading used to be my escape when things got rough too, but now I just… hate or feel meh about everything I read lmao. But I'm so excited for the Ateez-related post!! Maybe it'll help me stan them 🤩 (right now I still don't have time I have homework RIP, but I'm so glad that they're helping you!)

thank you so much for sharing those important links, especially the one related to the terror law 😭 i know it should be expected, but it just warms my heart when someone uses their platform to help educate others. (you're one of the only white people I trust!!!)

    • awh ❤ I'm glad to be back even though I'm wary in case I fall down the blogaholic route again and I relate to that mood about reading. I used to pick books up easily and just escape but now, it takes a lot more energy for me to pick up books and escape and even though I know I'll end up enjoying them…idk it's a lot of effort and sometimes I'd rather watch a 10 minute long video about Ateez cute moments like the dork I am xD

Ah of course! I plan to have info links displayed somewhere more permentantly on the blog so they're always availble for people to reach, ilysm and honestly you don't need to thank me love, it's the bare minimum we (ppl with platforms/white folks) should all be able to do at this point ❤ Eeeek did I mention I love you? *squishes in a hug*

  5. ah i’m so sorry to hear that your mental health / coursework caused you to take a hiatus! i’m glad you’re back now though ❤ i'm actually jealous that you were able to get your hair cut lmao! i'm on the same page as you — long hair can be so pretty, but i hate it on myself and it makes me feel so uncomfortable 😭 i really want to cut it but i'm definitely not doing it myself and haircuts feel so unnecessary in the scheme of things so i'll probably just wait it out till the end of the year!!

i hope you have a great august and have fun with blogging again 💗

    • Thank you so much May (lmao the way I internally screamed seeing you comment on one of my posts…I may have looked up to you as a blogger from afar hehe) aaaah yes long hair is super pretty but sometimes it’s just not right for the person, I’m so glad I was able to get it cut even though I did feel like it wasn’t needed in the scheme of things, I’m just lucky I was able to get it done. Depending how long hair your hair is you could always braid it to keep it out of your way (assuming you don’t already do this btw and having your hair up doesn’t make you more uncomfortable), I usually braid mine but it’d gotten so long it became a hassle to French braid. Hope you’re able to get it cut though at the end of the year May!

Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful august too ❤

  6. WELCOME BACK CLO!!! *cue confetti* *lights the fireworks* *pops the champagne bottles* *brings out marching band* 🥳

I’ve read With the Fire On High as well and it was so soooo good. It made me feel a lot of things and I really connected with the characters which I admit is the greatest factor as to why I enjoyed reading this so much. On the other hand, I have yet to dive fully to Urban Fantasy, though with your recommendations and your enthusiasm for the genre, I’m really looking forward to it and may start The Guild Codex Spellbound series soon 👀

Aaaaaaand ATEEZ’s comeback was a gift from the heavens, isn’t it? Their new album is absolutely breathtaking, from the music and lyrics, the dance choreo, the storyline of the ATEEZ universe, the visuals, and even their outfits oh my god. What you said, literally I don’t think I’ve ever skipped any of their songs. And know that I will hold One Day At a Time forever in my heart. Fever is another b-side that just never fails to make me emotional??? I have no idea but it feels like such a sentimental song! How do you feel about To The Beat though? I see a lot of mixed opinions about that song but I personally LOVE it. Whenever that song comes up I’ll be turning into twerking Yunho 😂 Ooo ooooo I forgot to mention, I’ve finished binge-watching Codename Ateez!! They’re so adorable and it’s crazy how much they’ve improved since then, yet somehow they haven’t changed at all? Like in a good way, idk I can’t explain it 😂

Oops, I’m sorry I just realized that this comment has been mainly me gushing over ATEEZ again, as if I don’t do that enough in your DMs already so I apologize for my lack of restraint bahahah. But anyway, I’m super glad you’re back and I hope your hiatus has treated you well! I’ll be here on the lookout for more of Cuppa Clo 💜

    • Hehehe thank you Luxe! Eeeek can’t wait for you to start that series! It’s such a good series and lmao it’s fine, I appreciate all comments that involve Ateez haha

Yesss Fever does make me a bit emotional too, I don’t know why but it just hits different. Aha To The Beat I mean I don’t dislike it but I’m not entirely sure it’s fully won me over yet. I think that’s mostly because I’m not sure about it’s tempo and everything haha.

Eeeek I still need to watch the last two parts to Episode 8 for Codename Ateez but I am so proud of them hehe. Thank you so much Luxe ❤

  8. I’m a little late to this, but HI HELLO! It’s good to read a blog post from you and I’m so sorry you’ve been feeling so burned out about it all in the past few months. I hope you’re feeling a little better about it and please know I’m always a message away if you need to rant or anything, at all ❤
Thank you so, so much for sharing my posts, I'm so happy you enjoyed them so much! ❤ AND YOUR HAIR you're the cutest 🥰🥰🥰
