My Nominations For The Fourth Annual 2020 Book Blogger Awards

I have been impatiently waiting to be able to write this post! If there’s one thing that brings me a lot of joy it’s this community and I enjoy spreading the love. If you don’t get nominated remember you’re still amazing, your blog is enough, you are enough!

I have spent so many hours on this post and dancing to K-Pop whilst I do so. Look some people work in silence, I am not one of them my brains easily distracted. For more information about The Fourth Annual 2020 Book Bloggers Awards check out the announcement post from one of the co-hosts Marie! I’d also like to take a moment to say thank you to both May and Marie for hosting these again this year. These awards are a great way to discover new blogs which I always love doing!

Anyhoo I would just like to say I adore everyone who I nominated and feel free to leave links to your own nominations posts in the comments! Oh and I went a wee bit extra and have included 1-3 of my favourite posts from each book blogger I nominated. At least one will fit the category I nominated them in! this post has taken me 4 days to compile and I didn’t even do every category *sobs*

Best Of Their Age

Best Pre-Teen/Teen Book Blogger (13-19)

Rain @ bookdragonism

I have no words to explain how proud I am of Rain or how much I adore her blog, juggling school (now uni) alongside her blog and still managing to hype all so many diverse reads. Rain creates amazing content and is a constant light in the blogging world ❤

Related Blog Post/s: Rain had started a fabulous series of posts where she interviewed some authors, one of my favourite posts from this series would be Who Stokes The Fire: Talking About The Bone Witch And World Building With Rin Chupeco. Another favourite post from Rain, is Everything You Need To Know About Edelweiss Ft Tips And Tricks it’s such a detailed and helpful post for fellow book bloggers!

Jayati @ Just A Coffee Addicted Bibliophile

So much love for Jayati and her blog! Her discussion posts are some of my favourites and I love seeing her bujo related posts too! I have no words literally they went walkies but I always love reading Jayati’s content ❤

Related Blog Post/s: This is still one of my favourite posts from Jayati, it’s also one of her prompts from when she was a host for Bookending Spring 2019 – Pre-Scheduling And Organising Your Blog ft Mood BloggingAlso since I mentioned loving her bujo content, be sure to check out her June Bullet Journal post!

Best Adult Book Blogger (20+)

Haley @ The Caffeinated Reader

words fail me pls help Haley’s one of the few book bloggers whose reviews I do also click on and I also adore all her other content. She has some really thought provoking discussions and is also fabulous at boosting and promoting all the books, including diverse books! Haley’s also wonderful at spotlighting indie books too and highlighting some awesome backlist books too.

Related Blog Post/s: Perhaps one of my favourite discussion posts from Haley is Racial Colour Blindness And Its Negative Effect On Authors Of Colour

Best Of Book Blogging

Best Book Reviews

Tiffany @ Read By Tiffany

For anyone who doesn’t know me, hi I’m terrible at actually reading book reviews but 9/10 times I’ll read Tiffany’s. This lovely soul is responsible for the vast majority of contemporary books that I add on GR. If I’m ever in need of a fluffy contemporary but I’m unsure what books to try, I waddle on over to Tiffany’s blog/check to see if she’s reviewed the book on Goodreads.

Related Blog Post/s: Tiffany’s review of Somewhere Only We Know by Maureen Goo is the reason I bought the book and read it last year. There are so many other instances but I want to highlight two other posts by Tiffany which I adored.  This is an older discussion post of hers Blogging Made Me More…Introverted? and another of my favourite posts is Three Love Lessons I’ve Learned From Books

Best Book Recommendations

Sophia @ Bookwyrming Thoughts

If Soph recommends a book then I’ll be adding to my TBR without a doubt. It’s not always through her blog posts either, as she’ll throw books at me in DMs and then…I buy and read said books. Then I continue to shriek about them to other people. Basically Soph’s recommendations are 10/10 and I trust her recommendations completely. If you’re ever unsure on what books you want to try, highly recommend checking out Soph’s blog as her recs and reviews will definitely help your TBR spiral out of control!

Related Blog Post/s: We’d Be Unproductive If Our Favourite Characters Had Social Media was a hoot to read, something I adore about Soph’s posts is the sass in them. Of course her post talking about Meteor Garden (2018 Reboot) | I Think I’ve Been Robbed Of A Proper Ending is another favourite simply because she was the reason I watched that show. Lastly I snooped for this review of Three Mages and a Margarita because again, Soph shrieked about that series to me. I listened…and have been devouring the books ever since.

Best Discussion Posts

Caitlin @ Caitlin Althea

I love Caitlin’s posts. Her discussion posts are some of my favourites though, I enjoy reading her thoughts on topics and then getting to chat with her in the comments ❤ I literally don’t have the words to describe how much I adore reading Caitlin’s blog posts.

Related Blog Post/sWhat Makes Me Keep Reading A Post? + Tips On How To Implement These Things one of the first posts I read of Caitlin’s! I also adore her original series where she reads books which fit a certain theme! Caitlin Reads Book Bloggers’ Favourite Books Of 2019 and Caitlin Reads Book Bloggers Book Recommendations

Taasia @ Librae Paints Pages

I first stumbled onto Taasia’s blog in 2018 I believe because of a discussion post she’d written. I adored it, the way it was written, how it got broken down etc. Anyway since then I’ve been following this lovely human and enjoy reading all of her posts, especially her discussion posts though!

Related Blog Post/s: The Manon Ethnicity Drama And Representation Of Marginalised Communities In S.J Maas’ Books is the discussion post which led me to Taasia’s blog! I highly encourage you all to read this post, even if like me you adore the ToG series.  Another one of my favourite posts by Taasia would have to be Why I Don’t Have Bookstagram ft Me Being Controversial Again.

Best Blog Aesthetic

Leelynn @ Sometimes Leelynn Reads

Eeek Leelynn’s blog is ADORABLE! It definitely screams Leelynn and I just love how the social media icons also tie in with the theme of mermaids. (they’re sea shells!) Also the colour palette is so pleasing to my eyes and I’m in love.

Related Blog Post/s: One of my favourite posts from Leelynn is Get Out Of The Winter Dip And Start Blogging Again

Mere @ Lore of the Books

I may be biased because Mere’s blog also uses purple look I adore purple ok but I do love Mere’s blog aesthetic. The purple is a softer toned purple which balances so nicely with the white and the cute graphics she uses. (total tangent but Mere’s bookstagram is also one of my favourites for its aesthetic too!)

Related Blog Post/s: All About The ‘Gram is such a helpful post from Mere, particularly if you’re interested in starting a bookstagram (or if you already have one and are looking for tips/are nosy hehe)

Best Blogging/Writing Voice

Charvi @ Not Just Fiction

I will read anything Charvi writes. Literally anything, her writing voice just grabs my attention. I often include a lot of Charvi’s posts in my wrap ups because I just…love all her posts? Charvi stop writing such amazing posts pls xD A bit reason why a lot of her posts end up in my wrap up, is down to her writing voice making her posts super engaging for me…since my focus is often drifting these days.

Jeimy @ A Novel Idea

If you see the cute formatting I have going on with the boxes and some other things – it’s thanks to Jeimy! Eeek so I must confess I am terrible at hopping to Fanna’s wonderful blog! However I do see her posts/tweets on insta and twitter respectively. Fanna’s tweets are usually popping up on my timeline which has led to me checking out various books, which I wouldn’t have ordinarily.

Best At Promoting Diverse Books

CW @ The Quiet Pond

CW’s blog is full of detailed recommendation posts which are bursting with diverse recs! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve referred back to her posts, to find some books to add to my TBR. Also CW’s blog is adorable can we take a moment to just appreciate how much time, energy and hard work CW and her co bloggers put into The Quiet Pond ❤

Xandra @ Starry Sky Books

I adore Xandra’s posts, they’re always well put together and usually I want to sit and binge read like everything she writes xD Again the discussion posts are some of favourite posts because they’re so well written and I just love a good ol’ discussion post.

Related Blog Post/s: Xandra’s blog is a gold mine of fabulous discussion posts but I thinkHow Many Characters Is Too Many? is still one of my favourite posts from her.

I am knackered. This post has been 4 days of me being a stressed mess as I try and nominate people who fit the categories best. I feel like this post has just reaffirmed for us all that I love discussion posts…as if there was any doubt oops. Nominating people isn’t as easy as you think, particularly when it’s so easy to nominate people for multiple categories. Anyway I did my best to nominate people only once and the people I nominated are all blogs I read fairly regularly ❤

Once again I’d like to say, if I didn’t nominate, I STILL LOVE YOU. Your blog is still fabulous and I’m sure there are lots of blogs I’ve forgotten because my memory is like a sieve these days.

I’d also like to mention that I am still in a hiatus – I just broke it to get this post up!

  1. Thank you for breaking hiatus and putting together such an AMAZING nomination post! Mine is so basic in comparison lol. And thank you so much for your nomination, I love that you included posts from everyone and feel so honoured to be on this awesome list.

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT YOUR LAYOUT AND FORMATTING? It’s absolutely pleasing to the eye I’m so inlove with it 💜

Ahhh Clo! I feel so honored but honestly if it wasn’t for Kat @ Novels and Waffles, I wouldn’t have the aesthetic I have today. She really captured my vision for what I wanted and just made it absolutely amazing ❤ It's all thanks to her!

I am so happy with everyone you chose! I can't wait to see all the nominees in one list and I'm hoping we get to see some new faces win this year ❤ We all worked so hard to be acknowledge right? I think we call win this year.

    • LOVE YOU TOO CAITLIN ❤ Ah I'm so glad it's obvious I spent a long time on it haha, if I'm going to break hiatus it may as well be for something like this where I get to shower other bloggers with love!

I feel that! I changed a few bloggers round several times as I tried to figure out which category best suited them – you could always write out all the bloggers you can think of for each category and eliminate them that way? Good luck for your own nominations post though – can't wait to read it! ❤

  11. I’m not surprised by the K-Pop development AT ALL and I definitely approve of this decision while making the post. (I’m also not sorry at all about The Guild Codex because at the moment of recommending I WASN’T AWARE ABOUT A THIRD SPIN OFF SERIES. But it’s okay, I go down, you can go down with me lololol.) Also thank you for nominating me – I’m a soft potato and honored to be among good company. 🥺🥺🥺

  12. Hallo, Hallo Clo,

I’ve been adding bloggers to my end of the nomination blogroll – in the hopes of helping all of us find each others’ posts – whilst at the same time, I wanted to mention straight-off those of you who had time to add-in some posts by your nominees was an idea I had myself but I was out of time and I’m just thankful I could submit the noms themselves this year!! I really left it to the golden hour and next year I’ll be much better prepared now that I know the categories, etc.

You’re presentation is beyond brilliant because it gives us a way to visit the nominee and get to know more about their blogging voice & style as well. Beautifully done!

About half of your nominees are bloggers I love to visit myself – the rest are all new to me! I am so happy to see this and look forward to visiting with everyone this week.

You can read my list of noms and see if we share any mutuals.
