Monthly Rewind: March 2020

March has been a strange month, in the sense I went from having zero motivation to blog, or do anything creative really. To doing a 360 and suddenly I’m all systems are go so I am very excited for April because I have so much planned! Before that though, let’s have a cuppa and rewind this past month.

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare (currently reading)

Whether it be TV shows, movies or a YouTube video I really loved and wanted to share with y’all. You can find it all in this section! Along with a lil ramble of how I felt about what I watched!

Sweet Combat: Ep 1-24

Dark Angel Season 1: Ep 3-9

The Hunger Games

Life Updates

March has been really strange, mostly because COVID19 has caused a load of change in all our lives, for me it’s not a huge change thankfully. Since my family’s normal life is usually spent in the house ahem BUT I have stopped going to work (I’m thankful that I’m in a position to not have to go to work) as the schools are closed and the UK went into lockdown part way through March. I know it’s a scary time for so many of us but you probably won’t see me talking much about it online (unless you catch me in a Discord server, I sometimes chat about it there) as I’d rather talk/create content that allows us some escape instead. One thing the virus has done is given me perspective on how lucky I am.

The other thing that happened near the start of the month, was I got an online course for being a Teaching Assistant! It was something I’d been mulling over and I really enjoy working with kids, helping them grow and flourish. I finally bit the bullet and got a course so I have a year to complete that and it does require work placement/voluntarily hours, which I won’t be able to do until the schools reopen again here. So out of the 11 units I have…I can only complete 4 fully at the moment since the others need me in placement.

March was definitely a month of doing some soul searching, realising that I can actually empty mind and be present in the moment and it was also a month of me panicking over my blog. Again. As you may be able to tell the colours have changed around here, we’re going purple and grey loves with blue thrown in because it’s calming and I don’t want to have too much purple. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from blogging, it’s that I can fall out of love with my blog simply because I don’t like the colours. I’ve been wanting to go purple and grey with my blog, for the longest of times I just didn’t…I can’t remember why now. Anyway I’ve also switched up the design of the featured images (they nearly gave me a meltdown because I felt they were too simple) I love how the featured images look now.

Oh also I’m very excited to revive my bookstagram next month! If you don’t already follow me over there, then you’re more than welcome to! I’ve been taking photos using Bookending Spring prompts as inspiration and I’m in love with how they look.

Around The Blogosphere

As I go about my blog hopping ways, I save some posts I loved, to share with you here. Ranging from reviews to tags to recommendations to discussions and if I stumble across any announcement posts from others in the community…yep you guessed it they’ll be going here.

Announcements can be from a blogging event (e.g something like Bookending Spring) to readathons to a bloggers new features.

Every now and then I’ll tweet a call to action for book bloggers to drop a link to their a post they’d like some love on, earlier in the month I decided to include bookstagrammers as well as I want to get more involved in that community. you don’t need to be following me on twitter either to drop your link, just find the tweet and self promo away

That’s partly why I have more posts to share this rewind, as I’ve been dutifully hopping to people’s posts from that tweet.

March’s Playlist

In case anyone wants to snoop on what I’ve been listening during the months, this section will break it down for you! I’ll list the songs and artists and at the end leave the link to the YouTube playlist!

March was a month of K-Pop…a lot of Monsta X was played and a fair amount of EXO. And Ateez but I feel like that’s just a given which is why I’m not writing down as many Ateez songs because I listen to them A LOT and that’d just be repetitive.

  1. I hope you enjoy Chain of Gold! While I didn’t love it as much as The Infernal Devices (which is one of my top five series) I still really enjoyed it! I can’t wait to reread it before the next one comes out. Happy Reading!

  2. Ah, I’m glad that March wasn’t a bad month for you, Clo! thank you so much for featuring my post here 🥺🤍 you were an AMAZING blog hopper this month, and I cannot relate, haha! I do relate to you about the fact that COVID-19 hasn’t affect your life much. I’m an extreme introvert, and if given the choice, I would NEVER go out, lockdown is actually lifting my mood. Plus, my summer break is in March, so I wasn’t gonna have school anymore anyway 😂 Anyways, I’m just feeling blessed that this is the case for me, and that COVID-19 isn’t ruining my life like it is for other people. Also, though I haven’t listened to k-pop for a long time, March was the month of k-drama OSTs for me, so I relate to you on the Korean songs front, haha!

    • Aw you’re welcome Caitlin, I really enjoyed your post! I got my blog hopping mojo back so we’ll see if I can keep it up this month ❤ Yep out of choice I wouldn't go out either, although I did have some things planned in March (ironically it was the month I planned to be social the world flat out went "not this month or for a while" and I'm not gonna argue with that. Korean songs have been mostly all I listen to, I do really want to watch kdramas but it's finding them on YouTube since I don't have Netflix 😦 Hope you have a good April Caitlin! ❤

Although covid didn’t changed much in my life either i’m now wanting to go out and be with someone. Brains.. go figure 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m not lucky enough for having us closing shop though xD still having to go to work, right now on my second 10hrs shift/3. Next week we go back to 8hrs- thanksfully!!

Ohh!! So nice you found something you wanna do 💕 I grewed into a grampy grandma apparently 😂😂 I so couldn’t work with kids..

  5. I’m so glad that you’ve been productive and working on being in the present moment. The pandemic has definitely been difficult, but I also have been able to be thankful for the privileges that I have and that I am not struggling financially. and LOOK AT YOU BUYING BOOKS! I hope you have a wonderful April and I am looking forward to your content!
